Y-Space Won Three Awards in the First Half of 2017

2017 is such a fruitful year for Y-Space. We were nominated for the 19th Hong Kong Dance Award for Outstanding Large Venue Production for our production of i-Dance Festival (HK) 2016: Opening Gala, and received Outstanding Small Venue Production and Outstanding Services to Dance for our productions of i-Dance Festival (HK) 2016: Helen Lai In the Post-90’s and i-Dance Festival (HK) respectively from the Hong Kong Dance Alliance in May, while in June, 2016 Hong Kong Arts Development Award – Artist of the Year (Dance) was presented to our Artistic Director Victor Choi-wo MA by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.

Victor MA is still unsatisfied with the status quo and puts his heart and soul into Hong Kong dance development despite his achievements. He encouraged the public to watch live contemporary dance performances and help improve the salaries and social status of dancers and choreographers at the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards 2016 Presentation Ceremony. He also urged the Government to provide more creative space for artists, boost dance education in schools and take care of the development and archives of Hong Kong Dance Studies. His prize money of HK$50000 will be invested in establishing Hong Kong Dance Development Foundation in order to bring interested parties together with the aims of encouraging creativity and cultivating local young talents.

We are glad to share the happiness with all of you. Photos of the awards presentation ceremonies are now available. Victor MA’s journey to dance and vision, and the content of the coming performances and events are already published in the Hong Kong Economic Journal. Check them out by clicking on the link below!
